Credentials
"We have installed two eliga gas sauna heaters in our own sports and wellness facility in 2014 with a total heating capacity of 70 kW. We recommend eliga gas sauna heaters through our company C.D. Schmidt Aqua-Technik for swimming pool and wellness planning also to the commercial customers we serve."
Mr. Görke, Managing director Auszeit Wildeshausen
"... The advantage of electric heating is mainly in the installation phase, the advantage of gas heating in the running operation costs. Since the energy costs have a consider-able negotiability with the suppliers, the respective situation on site is decisive for the decision for electric or gas. If a gas supply is available nearby than this form of energy should be included in the calculation. ..." from the final report of the Fraunhofer-Institute for wood research on the quality assurance of commercially used sauna and hot air rooms in cooperation with Deutscher Sauna-Bund e. V.

General
eliga gas-fuelled heaters for sauna, hot- and warm air rooms, audited to the EC Gas Appliances Directive 2016 Certificate no. 0085AQ0312 are the result of a long and intensive research in the field of heating and ventilation technology (the first patent by Mr. Eugen Elsässer dates back to 1955). In a well isolated sauna room, you will reach temperatures of 80-100 °C after approx. 90 minutes. The dark radiator heaters made of high-quality and durable stainless steel with exhaust fan have a well planed construction, simple installation, a long life span as well as low operating costs. Simply calculate your operation cost savings yourself by entering your gas and electricity costs in the below comparison table. In addition, there is no need for the time and cost caused by replacing defective heating elements of the electric sauna heater. The renowned Fraunhofer-Institute has proven an efficiency of over 90 % for eliga gas heaters. If required, we can also supply you on request with a heat exchanger to further reduce the exhaust temperature or a CO-alarm for the sauna room.
eliga gas-fuelled heaters suck in air in the floor area of the sauna, this flows along the hot heating pipes and rises upwards as heated air. The slowly cooling down air sinks back down at the opposite side of the sauna and is sucked in again by the heater (convection heat/air circulation). The advantages of this type of heating are the short heating up time and the rapid temperature change that is possible at any time.
eliga gas-fuelled heaters are suitable for natural gas and liquid gas - natural gas nozzles are always built-in when delivered (please enquire for other types of gas or liquid gas). The heaters can be installed by a local specialist company (gas fitter/heating engineer). If desired, we can install the heater and connect it to an existing exhaust chimney or a chimney made of stainless steel which we can offer you as well as the first commissioning. If desired, we can also offer you a maintenance contract.
eliga gas-fuelled heaters can be installed in sauna rooms on the side wall, in the corner of the room, in the middle of the room or as back-bench or back-wall. They must be fitted with a fireproof cladding and a metal protective grille on the top (is not included in the delivery). This cladding can be made individually from bricks, ceramics, metal reflector sheets or other fire resistant materials (see installation examples page 34).
eliga gas-fuelled heaters must not be installed on wooden/plastic floors (in this case, a fireproof base must be build). For reasons of fire protection, there must be a distance of at least 200 mm from the heater to flammable wooden parts. The gas burner and the exhaust fan are always located outside of the sauna room. The exhaust is connected to the chimney with isolated pipes. An installation permit of the gas heater by the responsible fire protection authority is required.
You are welcome to send us your plans, we will help you already in the planning phase with our decades of experience. If required, we can also provide you with tender texts for our gas heaters.
Comparison of operation costs for a gas-fuelled and electric heater
calculation sample for gas-fuelled heater art. no. 8043 with 30 kW nominal heat output with an operating time of 360 days per year with 13 hours a day
energy from | natural gas | electricity |
---|---|---|
Nominal heat input | 32 kW | 30 kW |
Energy for heating up | 1,5 hx360x32 kW = 17.280 kWh | 1 hx360x30 kW = 10.800 kWh |
Energy for operation with 60 % heat input | 13 hx360x32 kWx0,6 = 89.856 kWh | 13 hx360x30 kWx0,6 = 84.240 kWh |
Burner/fan approx. 100 W/Std. | 13 hx360x0,1 kW = 468 kWh | - - - |
Total energy requirement | 107.604 kWh | 95.040 kWh |
Energy costs net per kWh | ...................€ | .................€ |
Total energy costs net | ...................€ | .................€ |
Because of the various design performances of sauna cabins it is only possible to calculate the precise costs of the gas-fuelled heater with installation after doing an exactly installation plan. However, higher investment costs for gas-fuelled heaters for commercial use are more than counterbalanced by the lower operating costs for natural gas and result afterwards in considerable heat cost savings. Basically, it can be said that the advantages of the cheaper gas price compared with electricity comes to the fore more and more when having longer operating times. Perhaps the onetime investment costs can be subsidised by your gas supply company - please ask them directly.
